Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway! – Mother Teresa
In today’s episode, I delve deep and show you through my personal stories how to be your true self and live like you’ve got nothing to hide. As you listen, you’ll hear me share my experience last year in Oslo that inspired me to finally stop hiding from my truer, bigger self and decide no matter the situation I find myself in, to live life like I’ve got nothing to hide.
I also get super candid about the postpartum anxiety and breastfeeding struggles I experienced after the birth of my daughter, and how I overcame the intense shame that haunted me. I truly believe the more we work to heal our inner wounds and scars and accept our whole selves - flaws and all, the more we can begin to share how stories with one another. And the more we share our stories, the more we help others and the more others can help us.
I also challenge us to ask ourselves questions like:
Why do we have different identities in different situations? Why can’t we be the same person at work, as we are at home, as we are with our neighbors, and in all situations? Do you have people in your life that you can’t be 100% yourself with? Why do we accept white lies as truth?
Here are some notable quotes shared on the podcast:
Hiding is so exhausting. Transparency is so freeing.
I give you permission to love yourself. You are perfect, whole, unique – just the way you are.
I choose to be unapologetically joy – my flaws and all.
The problem is not you. The problem is in the choices you are making.
This episode is perfect for anyone who is tired of hiding, pretending and wearing different identities and masks in different situations, and is looking for way to be transparent and themselves no matter the situation, while still being discerning and enforcing healthy boundaries.
